Reserve your spot today for the January 15 KPI Planning Session!!
For quite a few years, I’ve facilitated an Exit Planning Peer Advisory Board (PAB) of business owner peers. Through those years, it has evolved significantly based on the needs of participating business owners. We’ve flexed our focus based on what companies prioritize and what leadership looks like. We’ve honed in on the unique business, economic and exit planning trends that arise in an ever-changing climate. Today, even though we haven’t changed the name, the group and its content continue to evolve to best serve their needs.
When business owners think of exit planning, they often consider it to be an event far into the future – one that they don’t need to think about in the here and now. And the reality is that when we gather as a group, our discussions are more often about present-day business practices for sustainable growth and success than that sometimes-elusive, eventual exit.
Why? If you are building your business optimally, exit planning is a natural result. It requires strategic thinking with an eye on the future, which means planning and forecasting, then acting on that strategic plan. One of the most effective ways to grow your business is to develop a strategy focused on value optimization, which carries over into how the company is run. Maximizing the value of your business is also the focus of a good exit strategy and the key to accomplishing both long- and short-term goals. For many business owners, a value-based management approach can empower you to reach your growth goals today, alongside your future exit objectives.
Business owners who are part of the Peer Advisory Board meet every other month. Each time, we focus on an over-arching topic that is essential and applicable to any business, sometimes inviting guest speakers to share their expertise. We gain valuable insights, sharing and solving problems alongside trusted peers. In opposite months, each leader meets with me, one-on-one, to drill down and address issues that are unique to their business.
Is this something you could use to maximize the value of your business in 2025?
Key topics for the coming year include:
- January – Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- March – Financial Statements and Financial Intelligence
- May – Legal Audit and Tax Law
- July – Value Building and Value drivers
- September – People: Ownership Thinking/Working Genius/Generational Differences
- November – Year end planning: Strategy, Budget, Tax planning
I invite you to get your 2025 started in the right direction and be my guest at our January 15 meeting. You’ll meet other business owners and learn what drives the revenue wheel of your company, while starting to formulate the unique Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are applicable to your business. KPIs are an essential tool for driving business growth through the intentional review and analysis of your unique issues. They are measurable objectives that align with specific strategic goals for a defined period of time which enable you to regularly monitor performance, evaluate progress, speed up decision-making, improve results, and maintain the general health of the company. By regularly analyzing KPIs, you have an accurate picture of how well your business is performing so you are better equipped to gauge which levers you may need to pull to stay on track.
Participation in our Exit Planning Peer Advisory Board is a highly effective way to keep your business moving forward and growing, maximizing its value while simultaneously building the future you envision for yourself, your family, and the company you will eventually step away from. It’s an invaluable opportunity to share challenges and solutions with a power network of like-minded business owners, and to help each other remain accountable to their company and themselves.
Please contact me to be a guest at our next PAB meeting on January 15, 2025, if you have questions about the PAB and how it may be a fit for your business, or for a complimentary consultation to discuss building your business.
